Brighten Care Set

Brighten Care Set ritual

Brighten Care Set is our go-to for soft, cool, healthy blonde between salon visits. This is your step-by-step guide for South African hair and climate.

How to work through the Brighten Care Set routine

Every use starts with Blonde Wash Soft. Wet hair well, then use a small amount of shampoo. Gently massage into the scalp and work downwards, avoiding rough scrubbing, then rinse fully.

Next, apply Violet Soft Rinse. Squeeze out excess water, then use gloves to spread a walnut-sized amount through mid-lengths and ends. Leave for 2 to 5 minutes, checking tone after 2 minutes for paler hair. Rinse until water runs clear.

Follow with Cool Tone Gloss if you want an extra boost. Apply evenly to damp hair, leave for 3 to 8 minutes, then rinse well. Use this gloss every second or third wash, not every time.

Once towel-dried, mist Sun Shield Mist over lengths and ends, focusing on the top layer, especially before going outdoors. For very light or fragile hair, apply Bond Soft Serum to damp hair, working a pea to almond amount through mid-lengths and ends. Finish with Length Oil Drop on the tips for smoothness. Air-dry or style on a low heat if needed.

  • Shampoo: Blonde Wash Soft
  • Tone: Violet Soft Rinse (2 to 5 minutes)
  • Boost: Cool Tone Gloss (3 to 8 minutes, as needed)
  • Protect: Sun Shield Mist + Bond Soft Serum
  • Seal: Length Oil Drop

Timing and product amounts for different hair types

Fine hair needs less product and shorter contact: use only a small coin of shampoo and rinse or gloss. Start with 2 minutes for Violet Soft Rinse or 3 minutes for Cool Tone Gloss, increasing time slowly if needed. Too much product can weigh fine hair down.

Medium hair can take a standard walnut-sized amount of each product. Bond Soft Serum should be a pea to hazelnut size, avoid the roots.

Thick or coarse hair generally needs more product and a little extra time. Apply generous amounts, comb through gently for even coverage, and let gloss or rinse sit for the maximum recommended time. Add extra Sun Shield Mist and Length Oil Drop to control dryness and frizz on the ends.

What to adjust if your blonde is too warm, ashy, dry or heavy

If your hair looks too warm (yellow or gold), make sure you are using Violet Soft Rinse for a full 3 to 5 minutes and Cool Tone Gloss every second wash. Check your water: hard borehole water can warm blonde, so use a filter or clarify monthly.

If you see a lilac or dull cast, cut back gloss or rinse time and space out violet products. Pale or very porous hair absorbs pigment more easily, try using only every third wash, and rinse early, checking in natural daylight.

Heavy or oily feeling means too much serum, oil, or gloss. Reduce amounts and focus only on the mid-lengths and ends. If your hair is dry or frizzy, add more Length Oil Drop to the tips and layer Sun Shield Mist whenever you are outside, especially on the Highveld.

For stubborn dryness, add Silk Repair Mask once a week in place of conditioner after washing, then rinse thoroughly.
