Highveld routine for dry air and hard water

Joburg, Pretoria and the Highveld bring dry air, high UV and moderately hard water. This makes freshly toned blonde fade faster and leaves hair thirsty for moisture, especially in winter. Blonde Wash Soft creates low suds, so it cleans without stripping, and rinses away minerals from the water that can dull your colour.

In dry weather, massage it gently into the scalp and lengths, then finish with cool water to help close the cuticle. To avoid dryness, limit washes to when your scalp or roots truly need it. Pair with the Silk Repair Mask once a week for extra moisture, and finish with Sun Shield Mist before you step outside, especially mid-morning to early afternoon when UV is highest.

  • Cool rinse after washing to smooth the cuticle
  • Use Silk Repair Mask for mid-lengths and ends weekly
  • Apply Sun Shield Mist before going out

Coastal care for humidity, salt and soft water

The coast brings its own challenges: Durban’s humidity or Cape Town’s salt, wind and soft water. Soft water gives Blonde Wash Soft an even gentler feel, but can make it easy to over-apply products, so use a small amount and rinse until the water runs clear.

Salt and wind can roughen the cuticle, leading to frizz or tangling. After each wash, apply Length Oil Drop to your ends and protect your hair before a beach day with Sun Shield Mist. Always rinse hair with clean tap water after swimming in the sea or a pool. In Cape winters, wind can dry hair out, so keep the weekly Silk Repair Mask in your routine.

  • Use less product in Cape Town’s soft water
  • Rinse with tap water after swimming
  • Seal ends with Length Oil Drop

Adjusting for seasons, sun and pools

In summer, pools and sun are the main culprits for fading and changing blonde tones. To limit green from chlorine or copper, wet hair with tap water and apply a leave-in before swimming, then wash with Blonde Wash Soft and rinse thoroughly afterwards.

Winter means static, dryness and office heating on the Highveld, or wet weather in Cape Town. Wash only as needed, and double up on weekly conditioning. Consider wrapping hair in silk overnight or switching to a silk or satin pillowcase to reduce friction and keep lengths smooth.

  • Wet hair and use leave-in before swimming
  • Weekly Silk Repair Mask for winter dryness
  • Switch to a silk pillowcase for less static
